All 11 Teams Qualifying for MSI 2026

The 11 slots split across six regions. As of May 13, 2026 only one team is officially locked in: Team Secret Whales of the LCP, confirmed May 10 via Vietnam's championship-points system. The other 10 slots get filled through regional playoffs running mid-May through mid-June. Liquipedia's MSI 2026 page tracks every qualifier in real time as brackets resolve.
| Region | Slots | Qualification Status |
|---|---|---|
| LCK (Korea) | 2 | Decided at LCK Road to MSI, June 12-14 at Wonju Gymnasium. Gen.G, HLE, T1, KT, Dplus Kia in contention |
| LPL (China) | 2 | Bilibili Gaming has bracket bye (First Stand 2026 winner). Second seed TBD via Split 2 playoffs (JDG, TES, AL contesting) |
| LEC (EMEA) | 2 | Playoffs through June 7. Vitality, Karmine Corp, G2, Movistar KOI lead. Fnatic eliminated |
| LCS (NA) | 2 | Playoffs mid-June. Cloud9, Team Liquid, LYON, FlyQuest contending |
| LCP (Pacific) | 2 | Team Secret Whales (Vietnam) confirmed. Second seed TBD |
| CBLOL (Brazil) | 1 | Split 1 Grand Final on June 6. LOUD and paiN leading candidates |
LPL gets the bracket-stage bye for their second seed as a reward for Bilibili Gaming winning First Stand 2026 in São Paulo (final vs G2 Esports). LCS and CBLOL return to MSI for the first time since 2024. The LTA experiment that merged them is over, both leagues are independent again.
MSI 2026 Format Explained from Play-In to Grand Final
MSI 2026 keeps the two-stage format introduced in 2025 with one major change: Play-In shrinks from 6 teams to 4, and only one team advances to the main bracket instead of two.
The opening stage runs 4 days as a double-elimination Bo5 bracket with Fearless Draft. Four teams enter (second seeds from LCK, LEC, LCS, and LCP), only one survives to the Bracket Stage.
After a one-day break, Bracket Stage takes over with 8 teams in double-elimination Bo5 Fearless Draft. Seven byes go to the first seeds from LCK, LPL, LEC, LCS, LCP, plus the CBLOL champion, plus LPL's second seed (the First Stand reward). The Play-In winner fills the 8th slot.
Fearless Draft works like this: once a champion is picked in a series, neither team can pick that champion again in any later game of the same series. Champion pools blow up, flex picks dominate. MSI 2025 set the international record for most Game 5s (9 of 19 Bo5s) partly because of how variance-heavy Fearless Draft is.
Brand new for 2026 is the First Selection rule. Teams choose either side (blue or red) OR first/second pick, not both bundled like the old system. More to think about during champ select.
The MSI 2026 champion locks a Worlds 2026 slot, as long as the team also qualifies for their region's Split 3 playoffs.
Daejeon Convention Center and Travel Tips for MSI 2026

The venue is Daejeon Convention Center II (DCC II), at 87 Expo-ro, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon. Building capacity sits around 8,000 (per Wikipedia and Hotspawn); the Daejeon Convention and Visitors Bureau lists 10,000. Riot has not published the exact MSI 2026 seat count, but the tiered seating chart (rows A through YYY) points to a few thousand actual fan seats once the stage and production gear take up space. Noticeably smaller than MSI 2025's Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver.
DCC II opened in 2022 and previously hosted the 2023 LCK Summer Finals weekend (Gen.G beat T1). First Riot international ever held in Daejeon.
Daejeon itself is South Korea's fifth-biggest city (about 1.65 million people in 2026), the country's main science and tech hub. For international fans:
- KTX from Seoul: about 1 hour on the high-speed Gyeongbu line (Seoul Station to Daejeon Station)
- Cheongju International Airport: ~40 minutes by train or limousine bus
- Incheon International Airport (main gateway): ~2.5 hours via direct limousine bus, or KTX through Seoul
Hotels cluster around Yuseong District (the venue area). Per the Daejeon CVB: roughly 632 rooms within a 10-minute walk of DCC II, around 5,010 rooms within a 15-minute drive in Yuseong District, plus another ~4,510 rooms within a 10-minute drive in Dunsan District. Book early. The city fills up fast on MSI weekends.
The venue sits next to EXPO Science Park, Hanbat Arboretum, and the Daejeon Museum of Art, so there's something to do between match days.
MSI 2026 Favorites Predictions and Prize Pool
The prize pool is expected to be around $2 million USD, matching MSI 2025. Riot has not officially announced the 2026 figure. If the 2025 distribution holds: 1st place gets $500,000 (25%), 2nd $300,000 (15%), 3rd $240,000 (12%), 4th $200,000 (10%), 5th-6th $160,000 each, 7th-8th $130,000 each, 9th $100,000, 10th $80,000. Riot also distributes around 30% of MSI-related skin and Pass revenue back to participating teams. If you want the MSI 2026 event skins for yourself, our guide on how to get free Riot Points covers all the legit methods.
Gen.G are the two-time defending champions (won 2024 and 2025), chasing a historic three-peat that no team has ever pulled off in MSI history. Their 27-consecutive Bo5 win streak was finally broken by T1 on July 25, 2025. Going into 2026 they're still the LCK team to beat.
Bilibili Gaming came off a First Stand 2026 victory in São Paulo. Aggressive playstyle and comfortable in Fearless Draft, they're the top LPL threat going in.
T1 chase their first MSI title since 2017. Faker has not lifted MSI in nine years, the longest gap of any active LCK organization.
G2 Esports are the highest-ceiling Western team. Lost the First Stand 2026 final to BLG but proved they can hang with Asia. Dark horses include JD Gaming, Hanwha Life Esports (First Stand 2025 winners), and FlyQuest as the LCS's most internationally experienced roster.
Betting markets: as of mid-May 2026, no major bookmaker has opened outright odds for MSI 2026. Pinnacle, Bovada, and OddsShark all have MSI listing pages but no published lines yet. Books usually open lines in mid-June once regional playoffs wrap up.
