Got SSW Thresh from a chest last month and wasn't expecting much from this 2014 Worlds skin. After about 55 games, I'm actually shocked how clean this feels compared to other Thresh skins in my collection. The white and blue color scheme might look basic in splash art, but in game it's crisp and the animations feel tighter than even some newer skins.

The Q windup feels noticeably smoother than base Thresh and way less clunky than Dark Star. Death Sentence travels cleaner too, making those max range hooks easier to land when you're fishing for picks. But the real difference is the E animation. Flay feels more responsive, especially when you need that instant backwards flay to stop a Leona engage. During a baron fight yesterday, I landed a three man flay that I swear would've whiffed on Championship Thresh because the animation cancel is just faster. The lantern is probably the weakest part visually, but teammates seem to click it more consistently, maybe because it's less flashy than skins like Spirit Blossom.

Compared to other Thresh skins, SSW sits in this weird spot where it's not the prettiest but might be the most functional. Championship Thresh has better effects, Deep Terror has that sick recall, but SSW just works better mechanically. Is SSW Thresh worth it if you're a support main who plays him regularly? Absolutely. The cleaner animations alone make it feel slightly pay to win, though Riot would never admit that. At 975 RP it's not breaking the bank either. If you're choosing between this and flashier options, go SSW for the competitive edge, not the looks.
