Picked up Pentakill Sona from a mystery chest last month and wasn't expecting much since I'm usually running DJ Sona or Odyssey. After around 55 games with it, I'm actually shocked how clean this skin feels for something from 2014. The Q powerchord has this satisfying guitar riff that makes harassing in lane feel way more impactful, even if it's just audio feedback making me think I'm hitting harder.
The W heal animation is probably the best part compared to other Sona skins. It's got this dark purple glow that's easier to track in teamfights than base Sona's subtle green shimmer. During a baron fight yesterday, I could actually tell which allies got my heal without squinting at health bars. Her E speed boost has this sick bass line that syncs with the movement, making roams feel smoother even though the actual speed is identical. But the ult is where it gets interesting. The crescendo wave has clearer edges than most of her skins, making it way easier to judge if you'll clip someone at max range.
Is Pentakill Sona worth it? For 975 RP it's definitely not pay to win, but the visual clarity on abilities is noticeably better than base. My experience with Pentakill Sona has been surprisingly positive for an older skin. If you're a Sona main who already owns DJ, you can skip this one. But if you're choosing between this and something like Sweetheart or Arcade, Pentakill wins for both aesthetics and slight gameplay advantages. The metal theme might seem cringe but good once you're popping off with those powerchord crits late game.
