After spamming 120 games with Guqin Sona this month, I can finally give you guys my honest thoughts on whether this skin is actually worth grabbing. The traditional Chinese aesthetic hits different compared to other Sona skins, and while it's not her flashiest option, there's something satisfying about the subtle elegance that grows on you over time.
The Q poke feels cleaner with those jade green notes floating out, making it easier to track in teamfights when everything gets chaotic. Her W heal has this soft glow that's less obnoxious than DJ Sona but way more visible than base skin, which honestly helps teammates realize you're actually healing them. But the real difference is the ult animation with those golden waves spreading out like ripples on water. During a baron fight yesterday, I landed a 4-man ult and the visual clarity was insane compared to Arcade Sona where sometimes people don't even realize they're stunned until it's too late. The skin definitely feels more responsive when weaving autos between abilities, probably because the instrument pluck animations are shorter.
Is Guqin Sona worth it compared to other Sona skins though? At 975 RP it's not breaking the bank, and you're getting solid particle effects without the overwhelming visuals of her legendary options. The recall animation with her playing the actual guqin is pretty chill too. It's purely cosmetic with no real advantage, but the cleaner animations make combos feel smoother. If you're a Sona main who wants something elegant without the DJ Sona price tag, this one's a solid pick. Just don't expect it to make you pop off if you're already inting in lane.
