Got this from a chest last month and honestly wasn't expecting much since I mainly play Thunder Lord Ornn. After about 35 games though, Elderwood has completely changed my mind about what makes a good Ornn skin.
The Q pillar feels way cleaner with the nature animations, and I swear the hitbox indicator is easier to judge in teamfights. Your W breath has this satisfying wooden crackle that actually helps me time the unstoppable frames better than base skin. But the real game changer is the ult. That massive tree ram is probably the clearest projectile in his whole skin lineup, making those long range engages so much easier to land. During a baron fight yesterday, I caught their ADC who usually dodges everything because he could actually see my ult coming through all the spell effects and flashed too early.
Compared to other Ornn skins like Thunder Lord, Elderwood trades some of that intimidation factor for pure clarity. Thunder Lord still looks more badass with the lightning effects, but in ranked I'm picking Elderwood every time now. The recall animation where he grows into a tree is kinda cringe but good, and the masterwork item upgrades have this nature glow that makes it obvious when you've upgraded someone's mythic. Worth the 1350 RP? For Ornn mains who want every advantage in their combos, absolutely.
This isn't pay to win exactly, but the visual clarity diff is real. If you're an Ornn player struggling with landing ults consistently or timing your W in messy fights, should you buy Elderwood Ornn? It's the best functional upgrade he's gotten. Thunder Lord might look cooler but Elderwood helps you actually pop off.
