Been maining Vel'Koz since season 8 and finally grabbed Arclight when it popped up in my shop last month. After about 120 games with it, I can honestly say this skin changes how the champion feels compared to other Vel'Koz skins. The golden aesthetic isn't just eye candy either.
The Q feels way more responsive than base skin, especially when you're trying to hit those geometry angles in river skirmishes. His W has this satisfying golden explosion that makes CS'ing feel crisp, and the E knockup animation is probably the cleanest of all his skins. But what really sold me was using the ult during a dragon fight last week. My team was getting destroyed, enemy Kayn was fed out of his mind, and I managed to melt three people because the laser beam visibility is insane on Arclight. You can actually track where you're aiming better than Battlecast, which always felt a bit clunky to me.
Is Arclight Vel'Koz worth it though? For 1350 RP, you're getting smoother animation cancels that actually matter when you're trying to combo quickly. The skin isn't pay-to-win but it definitely helps with clarity during teamfights. My experience with Arclight Vel'Koz convinced me to drop Infernal completely, even though I used that one for two years straight.
If you're a Vel main or play him regularly, grab this when you can. The technical improvements alone make it worth over his other options, and you'll notice the difference immediately in how fluid your combos feel. Just don't expect it to fix your positioning when that Zed decides you look tasty.
