After maining Thresh since season 4 and collecting every single skin except High Noon, I grabbed Unbound during the Sentinels event thinking it'd be another shelf warmer. Boy was I wrong about this one after spamming it for around 90 games this split.
The Q windup feels noticeably smoother than base Thresh and even Dark Star, which I've been using forever. Landing hooks through minion waves just hits different when the animation doesn't telegraph as hard. His E actually feels more responsive too, especially when you need those clutch flays during tower dives. Speaking of which, I saved my fed ADC yesterday under enemy turret because the flay animation cancels cleaner into the lantern throw. The W lantern itself glows way brighter than Spirit Blossom's, making it easier for tilted teammates to actually click the damn thing. But the ult walls blend into river fights worse than most skins, which cost me a dragon secure last week when their Kayn walked right through what looked like a gap.
Compared to other Thresh skins like Pulsefire or Blood Moon, Unbound sits in this weird spot where it's technically cleaner but aesthetically polarizing. The human form throws people off in champ select, but in game the ability clarity is worth the 750 RP if you're serious about climbing. Not quite pay to win like some claim, but the smoother animation frames definitely help with those pixel perfect hooks.
Is Unbound Thresh worth it for support mains who already own multiple skins? Probably not unless you really value those mechanical advantages. But if you're choosing your first or second Thresh skin, this one's surprisingly competitive with the flashier options.
