After 55 games with Toy Soldier Gangplank, I'm genuinely surprised how much this skin grew on me. Got it from a chest expecting nothing special but compared to other Gangplank skins, this one's actually become my go to. The toy aesthetic might seem cringe at first but there's something satisfying about the mechanical wind up movements that just works.
The Q feels snappier with that cork pop sound and cleaner animation that makes last hitting more consistent. Your barrels have this distinct wooden texture that's easier to track in teamfights, and the ult drops actual toy soldiers which is hilarious when you're zoning enemies off dragon. But what really sold me was during a baron fight where I could perfectly time my barrel chains because the fuse visibility is so much better than base skin. The enemy team got completely wiped trying to contest and my ADC typed "toy diff" in all chat.
Special Force and Dreadnova feel more intimidating sure, but Toy Soldier has this deceptive quality where enemies probably underestimate you until you pop off. The recall animation where he marches in place is worth it alone, and the death animation actually tilts me less when I int. It's purely cosmetic with no real advantage but the barrel clarity might give you a tiny edge in messy fights.
Is Toy Soldier Gangplank worth it? For 975 RP it's not breaking the bank and if you're a GP main who wants something different from the edgy pirate skins, absolutely grab it. My experience with Toy Soldier Gangplank convinced me that sometimes the goofier skins are the most fun to climb with.
