Silent Night Sona

Drifting through the streets as she plays, Sona's beautiful melodies bring out the wonder of fresh snowfalls, quiet evenings by the fire, and time spent with family and friends. She can also weaponize these songs, raining destruction upon those who would spoil the holidays.

Picked up Silent Night Sona from a mystery chest last month and honestly wasn't expecting much from this older Snowdown Showdown skin. After around 55 games though, I'm actually pretty impressed with how clean it feels compared to base Sona. The winter theme isn't just a recolor either, everything from the snowy particles to the bell sounds makes it feel like a completely different champion.

The Q poke has this satisfying jingle that makes harassing in lane feel more rhythmic, and I swear the animation feels smoother than DJ Sona's which I mained before. Her W aura spreads out with these snowflake effects that make it way easier to see who's getting the shield in messy teamfights. But the real game changer is her ult, the frozen wave is so much clearer than her base skin's golden crescendo. Had a dragon fight yesterday where their Yasuo tried to windwall it thinking it was further back than it actually was because the hitbox visibility is insane on this skin. We ended up getting soul off that one play.

Is Silent Night Sona worth it compared to other Sona skins? For 520 RP it's probably the best value you'll get. Sure it doesn't have DJ Sona's form swaps or Pentakill's metal aesthetic, but for gameplay clarity it's basically pay to win. The passive stacks show up better against Rift's terrain too which helps you track your combos. If you're a Sona main looking for something festive that won't tilt you with clunky animations, this is it. Just wish they'd bring back more of these old Snowdown skins because they absolutely nailed the balance between looking good and playing smooth.
