Picked up Shurima Desert Zilean from a chest last week and honestly wasn't expecting much since I main mid but rarely touch the old man. After about 40 games though, this skin completely changed how I play him. The sandy aesthetic isn't just for show, it actually makes landing bombs feel way smoother than base skin.
The Q bombs have this golden sand effect that's easier to track in teamfights compared to other Zilean skins like Blood Moon where everything blends into red chaos. Your W rewind gets this subtle hourglass animation that makes double bombing combos feel more responsive, and I swear the E speed boost has cleaner particle effects that help teammates understand when they're getting the buff. During a baron fight yesterday, enemy Yasuo completely missed my second bomb placement because the sand particles blend with river terrain, letting me get a triple kill when their backline stacked up. That's probably the first time a skin actually helped me pop off on this champ.
Blood Moon Zilean used to be my go to when I got autofilled support, but Shurima Desert just feels less clunky overall. The ult animation is insane too, with this massive sandstorm effect that makes it super clear who's getting the revive. Is Shurima Desert Zilean worth it if you're buying with RP? Maybe not at 975 unless you're really into the champion, but getting it from a chest makes it absolutely worth keeping.
For anyone who plays Zilean more than once a month, this skin makes the champ feel modernized without losing clarity. It's purely cosmetic advantage but sometimes that's all you need to stop tilting on an older champion. GG to Riot for making desert wizard actually playable.
