Picked up Sailor Gangplank from a chest last week and honestly wasn't expecting much from this 750 RP skin. After about 40 games though, I'm actually impressed with how clean it feels compared to base GP. The naval uniform aesthetic hits different when you're dominating lane, and there's something satisfying about the crisp white outfit that makes last hitting feel smoother.
The Q animation feels noticeably less clunky than default, making those poke trades in lane way more consistent. His barrels have this subtle anchor design that's easier to track in teamfights, which saved me during a messy dragon fight yesterday where I managed to land a triple barrel combo through all the visual noise. The ult probably has the biggest improvement with clearer cannonball indicators that help both you and your team understand the damage zones better. Compared to Captain Gangplank which I mained before, Sailor feels more responsive overall even though Captain has the cooler theme.
Is Sailor Gangplank worth it? For the price point, absolutely. It's not gonna make you suddenly pop off if you can't barrel combo, but the cleaner animations genuinely help with timing. My experience with Sailor Gangplank convinced me it's one of those skins that grows on you the more you play it. Not quite pay to win but definitely gives you that slight clarity advantage in hectic fights. If you're a GP main looking for something functional without breaking the bank, this beats most of his other budget options. The only thing that feels weird is the recall animation being so basic, but you're not buying this for the flashy effects anyway.
