Queen Ashe caught me off guard when I rolled it from a hextech chest last month. After 55 games with it, I'm actually surprised how much this older skin holds up compared to newer releases, especially since I never would've bought it myself.
The auto attacks feel way smoother than base Ashe, almost like they reduced the wind-up by a frame or two. Her W feels snappier too, and the golden particles make it easier to track in messy teamfights. But the real difference is her ult animation. Yesterday during a dragon fight, I landed a cross-map arrow that I probably would've whiffed on base skin because the projectile is just clearer to aim. The crown on the arrow makes it easier to judge the hitbox, which sounds minor but actually matters when you're trying to thread it between minions. Compared to PROJECT Ashe which I used to main with, Queen feels less cluttered visually while still looking premium.
Is Queen Ashe worth it? For 975 RP it's not exactly budget friendly, but the cleaner animations genuinely help with kiting. The recall animation where she sits on her throne is pretty cringe but good for tilting enemies after you pop off in lane. It's definitely not pay-to-win, but the visual clarity on her abilities gives a slight edge that Ashe mains will appreciate.
My experience with Queen Ashe changed my mind about older skins. While it doesn't have the flashy effects of Fae Dragon or High Noon, the responsive feel and clean visuals make it worth considering if you CS better with simpler animations. I'd recommend grabbing it on sale rather than full price though.
