Obsidian Malphite

As great mountains were ripped from their foundations during the rise of the Ashen Lord, from deep beneath them climbed strange, obsidian creatures, freed for the first time after thousands of years. They seem intent on stopping the Infernals, and are uniquely suited to defeating them.

Been spamming Obsidian Malphite for about 55 games now after grabbing it from a chest, and honestly this skin hits different than I expected. The molten rock aesthetic makes your Q feel heavier somehow, like you're actually throwing a chunk of volcanic debris at enemies instead of just a pebble. And the W activation has this satisfying crunch that base Malphite completely lacks.

The biggest difference shows during teamfights around dragon pit. Your ult has this insane visual clarity with the fiery trail that makes it easier for your team to follow up compared to something like Glacial Malphite where everything gets lost in the ice particles. Last night I caught their ADC farming bot and the ult animation felt more responsive, probably because the wind up has cleaner frames. The E groundslam spreads out with these orange cracks that actually match the hitbox better than most of his other skins, which is huge for knowing if you'll catch that Yasuo trying to dash away.

Compared to other Malphite skins like Mecha or Coral Reef, Obsidian sits in this weird spot where it's not flashy enough to tilt enemies but clean enough to feel worth using. It's purely cosmetic though, no actual advantage despite the clearer animations. The recall animation where you sink into lava is pretty sick but nothing game changing. For 975 RP I'd say wait for a sale unless you're already maining the rock. But if you get it from a chest like I did? Definitely becomes your go to skin once you get used to how smooth everything feels. My experience with Obsidian Malphite convinced me it's the best middle ground skin he has.
