Northern Storm Volibear

Northern Storm Volibear absolutely changed how I approach teamfights after grabbing it from a mystery chest last month. Playing around 55 games with it now, I can honestly say this skin hits different compared to other Volibear skins in ways most people overlook.

The Q animation feels way smoother than base skin, making those flash Q engages actually land more consistently. His W bite has this crisp sound that makes last hitting with it super satisfying, and the ult lightning strikes are probably the cleanest visual clarity I've seen on any Volibear skin. During a baron fight yesterday, I could actually track where my ult was hitting through all the spell spam, something that's usually impossible with Thunder Lord or Runeguard. The passive lightning chains are easier to see too, which helps when you're trying to CS under tower without accidentally shoving the wave.

Compared to Thousand Pierced Bear which everyone seems to love, Northern Storm actually gives you better visibility in river fights. The blue tint blends less with the terrain than the red effects, and the E shield is way more obvious when it pops. But here's the thing, it's purely cosmetic advantage, not really pay to win since experienced players will react the same regardless. The skin aged pretty well for being older, though the recall animation feels a bit dated when you see newer skins.

Is Northern Storm Volibear worth it? For 750 RP it's decent value if you main the bear. The smoother animations alone make it my go to over base skin, and I'd probably pick it over most of his other options except maybe Duality Dragon. Worth grabbing on sale for sure.
