Got Lion Dance Kog'Maw from a chest last week and honestly wasn't expecting much since I usually run Hextech or Pug'Maw. After around 40 games though, this skin's grown on me way more than I thought it would. The whole firecracker aesthetic hits different when you're melting healthbars.
The W feels insanely smooth compared to other Kog'Maw skins, especially base. That red glow makes it super obvious when you're in machine gun mode, which I thought would be bad but actually helps me track my positioning better. His ult has these satisfying firework explosions that make landing those long range pokes feel more impactful. And the passive death animation where he turns into a little firecracker is probably the best death animation he has. Just yesterday I was defending dragon pit and managed to secure it post death because the enemy jungler couldn't tell where my passive explosion radius ended with all the visual noise going on.
Compared to Hextech Kog'Maw which I mained forever, Lion Dance actually has cleaner animation cancels on the auto attacks. The projectiles are way easier to track too, which matters when you're trying to CS while harassing in lane. It's purely cosmetic but somehow makes the champ feel less clunky than his older skins. The recall where he dances around is worth it alone when you're fed and want to tilt the enemy laner.
Is Lion Dance Kog'Maw worth it? If you play him regularly, absolutely. The skin's aged really well for being from 2017 and at 1350 RP it's not breaking the bank. My experience with Lion Dance Kog'Maw convinced me to keep it as my main skin over the supposedly superior Hextech.
