Getting the Hired Gun skin from a mystery chest was honestly the best RNG I've had all season. After around 55 games with it, I can confidently say this is probably the smoothest feeling Lucian skin in the entire lineup. The Wild West aesthetic might look dated compared to flashier options like Pulsefire, but the gameplay feel is where it absolutely shines.
The auto attacks have this satisfying crack to them that makes CS'ing feel more responsive than base Lucian. Your Q piercing light feels snappier with cleaner animation cancels, especially when you're weaving it between autos during trades. But the real difference is the ult. Hired Gun's Culling has better visibility on each shot, making it way easier to track your damage output in hectic teamfights. I noticed this most during a baron fight where I could actually see my ult shots through all the spell effects, something that gets lost with High Noon's flashier visuals.
Compared to other Lucian skins like Project or even Demacian Vice, Hired Gun feels less clunky overall. The W animation doesn't have that weird delay some skins have, and your E dash maintains perfect clarity without unnecessary particle effects. Is Hired Gun Lucian worth it? For 975 RP it's not the cheapest option, but if you're serious about maining Lucian, the technical advantages make it worth considering. This isn't pay to win by any means, but the cleaner animations definitely help when you need to pop off in lane.
My experience with Hired Gun Lucian convinced me it's the tryhard skin choice. While everyone's distracted by Prestige editions, this understated cowboy aesthetic paired with superior gameplay clarity makes it the sleeper pick for climbing.
