Been spamming Hextech Alistar for about 50 games now after getting it from a chest, and honestly this skin hits different than I expected. The whole steampunk vibe actually works better than Moo Cow in teamfights since the bronze and copper tones don't blend into river as much.
The Q feels way more responsive compared to base Alistar, probably because the animation windup is cleaner with those mechanical pistons firing. His W headbutt has this satisfying metallic clang that makes tower dives feel more impactful. And the ult transformation where he goes full mech mode? Actually insane for tracking when you're tanky enough to int into their backline. Last night during a dragon fight, I could clearly see my ult timer thanks to the glowing effects while everything else was chaos. Meanwhile my ADC was getting fed off the engage opportunities because enemies kept focusing me thinking the glow meant I was low.
Compared to other Alistar skins like Conqueror or even Blackfrost, Hextech feels less clunky overall. The auto attack animation is smoother which helps when you're trying to get that sneaky CS under tower. Is Hextech Alistar worth it if you main him? Maybe not if you already own Moo Cow since that's still peak BM potential. But for an exclusive skin, it's definitely not just cosmetic. The visual clarity on abilities gives you a slight edge in messy fights.
My experience with Hextech Alistar convinced me it's actually one of his better skins for ranked. Not quite pay to win but the cleaner animations make those flash combos more consistent. Worth picking up if you see it available and play support regularly.
