HEARTSTEEL Aphelios

A multi-instrumental musical genius whose passion for his craft is nigh obsessive, Aphelios is the composer and creative backbone of HEARTSTEEL. Though he rarely ever speaks, with this wild band of musical misfits and his twin sister (the band's manager Alune) by his side, Aphelios is ready to have his creative voice heard loud and clear.

After 70 games with HEARTSTEEL Aphelios, I'm convinced this skin completely changes how the champion feels to play. The whole boyband aesthetic might seem cringe but good once you actually start popping off with those smoother animations that make kiting feel way less clunky than base skin.

The Calibrum Q feels incredibly responsive compared to other Aphelios skins, especially Nightbringer where the projectile can get lost in darker areas. Gravitum root has this satisfying bass drop sound that makes landing it feel more impactful, and I swear the animation cancel on weapon swaps is cleaner. During a baron fight yesterday, I managed to cycle through three weapons while kiting their fed Kayn, something that probably would've gotten me killed on base skin where the swaps feel sluggish. But what really sells this skin is how Infernum ult looks and sounds. That guitar riff when you land a big ult in dragon pit makes the entire team fight feel like a concert finale.

Compared to EDG Aphelios which was my previous favorite, HEARTSTEEL actually provides better visibility in chaotic teamfights. The neon effects are bright without being obnoxious, and enemy skillshots don't blend into your own abilities like they sometimes do with Spirit Blossom. Worth the 1350 RP if you're planning to actually main the champion, though it's purely cosmetic and won't suddenly make you better at managing ammo.

Is HEARTSTEEL Aphelios worth it? For anyone who plays him regularly, absolutely. The skin makes an already complex champion feel more fluid to pilot, and after my experience with HEARTSTEEL Aphelios, I can't imagine going back to the older options.
