Got Elderwood Bard from a chest last month and wasn't expecting much since I usually rock Snow Day, but after 55 games I'm actually converted. The skin completely changes how his abilities feel, especially the Q stun which has this satisfying wooden thunk sound when it connects that makes landing those double stuns way more rewarding.
The meep autos feel cleaner with better visibility on the projectile arc, and I swear the W shrine placement feels more responsive compared to base skin. During a baron fight yesterday, I could actually track my ult placement better through all the chaos because the golden leaves make it super obvious where the stasis zone ends. That clarity probably saved our ADC from getting deleted by their fed Zed. But the real game changer is how smooth the E portal animation feels when you're trying to make those quick rotations from bot to mid.
Compared to other Bard skins like Astronaut or Cafe Cuties, Elderwood just hits different with its nature theme matching his wandering support vibe perfectly. The recall animation with him playing that wooden flute is probably the most chill in the game. Is Elderwood Bard worth it if you're thinking about buying? For 975 RP it's not exactly budget friendly, but the smoother animations alone make it worth for anyone who plays him regularly. Not quite pay to win, but the clearer hitbox indicators on Q and ult definitely help in teamfights.
After my experience with Elderwood Bard, I'd say mains should grab it during a sale, but casual players might want to stick with Snow Day for better value. The skin aged really well since release and still feels premium compared to newer releases.
