Picked up Dragon Trainer Lulu from a chest last week and honestly wasn't expecting much since I'm more of a Winter Wonder fan. After about 40 games though, this skin's grown on me in ways I didn't see coming, especially the way Pix transforms into that adorable dragon companion.
The Q feels way smoother to land compared to base Lulu, probably because the purple projectile stands out better against Rift terrain. Her W polymorph turning enemies into dragons instead of cupcakes is insane for clarity during teamfights, and I've noticed teammates react faster to my polymorphed targets. But what really sells it is the ult animation with those swirling dragon effects. Just yesterday I was getting dove under tower by a fed Irelia and the ult visuals were so clean I could perfectly time my shield combo while kiting backwards. The dragon roar on cast gives this satisfying feedback that Winter Wonder just doesn't match.
Is Dragon Trainer Lulu worth it compared to other Lulu skins? For the 1350 RP price tag, you're getting solid value if you care about visual clarity. The recall with Pix doing little tricks is cute but nothing groundbreaking. I'd say it's mostly cosmetic rather than pay-to-win, though that polymorph visibility might give you a tiny edge in messy fights. My experience with Dragon Trainer Lulu has been surprisingly positive for a skin I never planned to use.
If you're a Lulu main debating between this and her other options, I'd say grab it during a sale. It won't revolutionize your gameplay but the cleaner animations make those clutch saves feel extra satisfying when you pop off in ranked.
