Got this skin from a mystery chest last month and honestly wasn't expecting much since I usually run Arclight. After about 40 games though, this goofy disguise has grown on me way more than I thought it would.
The Q feels surprisingly smooth compared to other Vel'Koz skins, and there's something about the newspaper projectile that makes it easier to track in teamfights. His W has this satisfying thwack sound when it hits that I actually prefer over the sci-fi effects of his other skins. But what really sells it is the ult animation where he just drops the disguise and goes full tentacle mode. During a baron fight yesterday, I caught their ADC off guard because they probably forgot I was the Vel'Koz behind all that cardboard. The visual clarity is actually better than Battlecast since the abilities pop more against the map without all those dark particles everywhere.
Is Definitely Not Vel'Koz worth it? For 750 RP, absolutely. The animations feel less clunky than base skin, especially when you're trying to combo Q into E for picks. And while it's definitely not pay-to-win, I think enemies underestimate you more when you're waddling around in a fake human suit. Something about the silly walk makes them forget you can 100-0 them if they get too close.
My experience with Definitely Not Vel'Koz has been way better than expected. If you main him or just want something different from the typical void aesthetic, grab it. The skin's aged really well compared to older releases, and you'll probably tilt at least one tryhard who can't believe they got deleted by a tentacle monster in a trench coat.
