Got Deep Terror Thresh from a mystery chest last month and wasn't expecting much from this 975 RP skin. After about 40 games though, I'm actually impressed with how different it feels compared to base Thresh. The underwater theme completely changes the champion's vibe while keeping everything readable in teamfights.
The Q windup feels smoother with that tentacle animation, and I swear the hitbox looks cleaner than Championship Thresh which I used to main. Your E has this satisfying splash effect that makes it easier to judge the range, especially when you're trying to flay someone into tower during a dive. Had this insane dragon fight yesterday where the enemy Jinx tried to flash my hook but the animation is so fluid that I could predict exactly when to throw it. The lantern gets this bioluminescent glow that teammates actually click more often, probably because it stands out better against river terrain.
But what really sells Deep Terror Thresh for me is the ult animation. Those water walls rising up feel more responsive than Dark Star's cosmic barriers, and enemies seem to respect the box more when it looks like they're getting trapped in Davy Jones' locker. The recall animation where he summons that massive creature is pure eye candy too. Sure it's not pay to win or anything, but the visual clarity on abilities definitely helps in cluttered fights.
Is Deep Terror Thresh worth it? If you're a Thresh main who plays him regularly, absolutely. The skin aged incredibly well for something from 2014 and offers enough visual improvements to justify the price. My only complaint is that Spirit Blossom still has better sound effects, but for pure gameplay feel, Deep Terror might be my new go to.
