Dark Crystal Ryze

After spamming Dark Crystal Ryze for around 150 games this season, I can confidently say this skin hits different than his other options. The purple crystalline effects make your Q feel snappier somehow, and the flux spread on E has this satisfying shatter animation that actually helps me track bounces better in messy teamfights. Compared to other Ryze skins like Zombie or even Championship, this one just feels cleaner mechanically.

The real game changer happened during a baron fight last week where I was trying to realm warp my team out of a bad engage. With base Ryze I sometimes lose track of the ult circle in river fights, but Dark Crystal's portal has this bright purple glow that cuts through all the visual noise. My E flux spreads are probably 10% more accurate too since the crystal particles make it obvious which minions are marked. And when you're fed and machine gunning Q's, the projectile feels less clunky than something like Tribal Ryze where the animations feel dated.

Is Dark Crystal Ryze worth it though? At 975 RP it's not breaking the bank, and honestly after using it extensively I'd say it gives you a slight clarity advantage. The W root has better visibility which helps in lane trades when you're trying to CS and harass simultaneously. But it's definitely not pay to win or anything crazy. If you're a Ryze main looking to upgrade from base skin, this is the one I'd recommend over his legacy options. The smoother animation cancels alone make it worth for anyone planning to grind ranked with him.
