Commando Garen

Commando Garen was my first ever skin purchase back in Season 4, and after 150+ games with it recently, I can honestly say it's aged better than most people think. The military aesthetic strips away all the fancy armor effects and gives you this raw, no-nonsense vibe that just works when you're trying to focus on fundamentals.

The Q animation feels noticeably cleaner compared to base Garen, especially when you're weaving in autos during trades. Your E spin doesn't have all those flashy particles cluttering the screen, which actually helps me CS better under tower when I'm getting zoned. And the ult? Pure satisfaction without the over-the-top theatrics. I was tower diving a fed Vayne yesterday and the simpler visuals made it way easier to track her movements through my spin without getting distracted by unnecessary effects.

Compared to other Garen skins like God-King or Dreadknight, Commando feels almost pay-to-win in how much visual clarity you get. The model is smaller and tighter, making your hitbox feel more honest when you're trying to dodge skillshots in teamfights. For 520 RP, you're basically getting a competitive advantage disguised as a budget skin. Sure, it doesn't have fancy recalls or voice lines, but when you're trying to climb and every little edge matters, this skin delivers where it counts.

Is Commando Garen worth it? If you main him or want to improve your gameplay, absolutely. The cleaner animations alone probably helped me climb from Gold to Plat this season. My experience with Commando Garen convinced me that sometimes less is more, especially when you need to pop off in ranked.
