Bilgewater Katarina

Picked this skin up from a mystery chest last month and honestly wasn't expecting much since I usually rock Battle Queen or PROJECT. After about 55 games though, Bilgewater Katarina has become my go-to for ranked climbs and I'm kinda shocked at how clean it feels compared to other Katarina skins.

The Q daggers have this distinct water splash effect that's actually easier to track in teamfights than most of her other skins. Her E feels snappier somehow, probably just the animation but the blink looks smoother than base skin for sure. And the ult? Man, when you pop off with that swirling water effect during a dragon fight, enemies seem to panic more. Last night I dove their fed ADC under tower and the ult visuals made it look way more threatening than it actually was. They flashed out at half HP when I probably wouldn't have gotten the kill anyway.

Battle Queen still has the best sound effects in my opinion, but Bilgewater's cleaner animation on the W pickup makes those resets feel more responsive. It's definitely not pay-to-win or anything, but there's something about how the abilities flow together that just clicks. The pirate aesthetic might seem cringe at first but it grows on you, especially with that recall where she spins the daggers.

Is Bilgewater Katarina worth it if you're a Kat main? At 975 RP it's not breaking the bank, and my experience with Bilgewater Katarina has been way better than expected. If you already have PROJECT or Battle Academia you're not missing out on anything game-changing, but for anyone building their Kat skin collection, this one's definitely worth grabbing next time it's in Your Shop.
