Picked this up from a chest last month and honestly wasn't expecting much since I mainly play Arclight when I'm on Vel'Koz. But after around 55 games with Battlecast, I'm actually pretty impressed with how different it feels compared to other Vel'Koz skins. The mechanical theme completely changes his vibe from cosmic horror to something more calculated and precise.
The Q feels way more responsive than base skin, especially when you're trying to reactivate it for those geometry angles in lane. His W has this satisfying mechanical thunk when it lands that makes CSing feel better somehow. And the ult is probably the biggest difference with cleaner animation frames that make tracking easier during teamfights. Had this insane dragon fight yesterday where their Yasuo tried to windwall but I could perfectly see where my laser was hitting through all the chaos. The red laser beam stands out so much better than Arclight's golden one when everything's going crazy.
Comparing it to Arclight which I've used for years, Battlecast definitely has better visibility in river fights and around objectives. The E knockup has this mechanical piston effect that's easier to track than the ethereal burst on his other skins. Is Battlecast Vel'Koz worth it though? For 1350 RP it's not exactly cheap but the visual clarity alone makes it feel less cosmetic and more functional. The recall animation where he transforms into a fighter jet is just icing on the cake.
If you're a Vel'Koz main looking for something that actually improves readability in fights, this skin's worth grabbing next time it's in your shop. The Battlecast line really suits his kit perfectly and after my experience with Battlecast Vel'Koz, I barely touch my other skins anymore.
