Picked up Barbarian Sion from a chest last week and wasn't expecting much from this older skin, but after around 40 games I'm actually impressed with how it holds up. The primal aesthetic completely changes how the champion feels in game, especially when you're running down enemies with your ult. Where base Sion feels like a lumbering undead, this skin makes you feel like an actual berserker charging into battle.
The Q windup feels way more responsive than base, probably because the axe swing animation is cleaner and easier to track. Your W shield has this satisfying tribal effect that makes it super clear when it's about to pop, which honestly helps with timing in those close lane trades. But what really sells it is the ult. Yesterday I ulted from river into a dragon fight and the war cry combined with the dust effects made the whole team scatter. Even my passive feels better since the rage animations match the barbarian theme perfectly instead of the awkward zombie shuffle.
Compared to other Sion skins like Mecha Zero, this one's purely cosmetic but somehow more satisfying. Mecha has better sound effects and particle clarity, but Barbarian just fits Sion's kit naturally. The skin's definitely worth the 750 RP if you main him or play him regularly. My experience with Barbarian Sion convinced me that older skins can still compete when the theme matches the champion this well.
Is Barbarian Sion worth it? If you want a skin that makes every engage feel more intense without breaking the bank, absolutely. Just don't expect flashy particles or special recalls. This is raw, simple, and effective.
