Been maining Yi for three seasons now with around 500k mastery points, and I finally grabbed Assassin Master Yi during the last sale after my duo kept telling me it was his cleanest skin. Honestly wasn't expecting much from such an old skin, but after 120 games with it, I'm actually impressed by how well it holds up compared to newer options.
The Q feels noticeably smoother than base skin, especially when you're trying to dodge skillshots in teamfights. His auto attacks after ult have this crisp feeling that makes kiting between camps feel more responsive. But what really sold me was during a baron fight last week where I needed to dodge three ults perfectly. The W animation is super clear, making it easier to time that damage reduction at the last second before eating a Syndra ult. Compare this to PROJECT where everything feels flashy but cluttered, and Assassin actually gives you better visual clarity when you're trying to pop off in chaotic fights.
Is Assassin Master Yi worth it? For 390 RP, absolutely. It's probably the best budget option compared to other Master Yi skins if you want something that feels good without breaking the bank. The skin isn't pay to win or anything, but the cleaner animations genuinely help when you're fed and need to carry. My only gripe is the E looks pretty basic compared to Cosmic Blade, but you're not buying this for particle effects.
If you're a Yi main looking for a skin that won't tilt you with clunky animations, this is it. And for anyone who already owns the flashier skins, Assassin is still worth having in your rotation when you want that clean, no nonsense feel.
