Got Arcana Ryze from a chest last week and honestly wasn't expecting much since I usually rock Championship or Young Ryze. After about 35 games though, this skin completely changed my mind about the whole Arcana line.
The Q feels way smoother than base skin, especially when you're trying to weave autos between combos. His E spread has this golden effect that makes it easier to track in teamfights, which saved me during a nasty dragon fight yesterday where I could actually see my flux bounces through all the chaos. And the ult is probably the cleanest animation Ryze has gotten, with zero of that clunky channel feel from his older skins. Compared to Championship Ryze which I've used for years, Arcana just feels more responsive when you need to combo fast. The W root has this satisfying snap to it that makes landing it feel better, even if it's purely cosmetic.
But here's what really sold me on keeping this as my main skin. During a tower dive gone wrong, I needed to ult my fed ADC out and the portal clarity was insane compared to other skins. My teammate actually said they saw it faster than usual, which might be placebo but I'll take it. The recall animation with the book is pretty sick too, though you'll rarely see it if you're backing efficiently.
Is Arcana Ryze worth it if you're buying with RP? At 1350 it's not cheap, but for Ryze mains who want the best visual clarity, absolutely. This isn't pay to win but it's close enough that I'm not switching back. My experience with Arcana Ryze convinced me the whole skinline isn't just flashy effects. Sometimes free chest drops really do hit different.
